On March 15th, the Clube de Escalada da Maia hosted the 1st round of the Regional Boulder Climbing Cup – NORTH of Portugal, an event dedicated to the U11 and U13 categories. If anyone thought that, because they were young, the competition would be easy, they were quickly proven wrong. These young athletes may be small in size, but their determination, courage, and climbing skills are bigger than anyone expected!

A Spectacle of Grit and Determination
From the very first moments, the energy in the venue was electric. With every attempted boulder, every carefully planned move, and every fall met with resilience, it became clear that climbing is more than just a sport for these kids – it’s a true passion. Their approach to challenges, often surprising coaches and spectators with creative solutions and impressive technique, showed that the new generation of climbers is growing stronger and more prepared for the future.

An Opportunity for All
One of the biggest highlights of this event was the opportunity given to athletes from the School Sports Program. Thanks to the support of the Portuguese Federation of Competition Climbing, these young climbers had the chance to compete in an official event, testing their skills alongside federated athletes. This inclusion brought even more excitement and diversity to the competition, allowing new talents to emerge and shine on the competitive stage.

Memorable Moments That Will Last
This event was more than just a competition—it was a celebration of sportsmanship and camaraderie. The athletes cheered each other on, celebrated every achievement, and, above all, had fun doing what they love most: climbing.
Every effort, every smile, and every victory was captured, and now you can relive those moments! The official event photos are now available at climbphotos.com, ready to be downloaded and shared!
If this event proved anything, it’s that climbing has a bright future in the hands (and feet) of these young rising stars. We can’t wait to see where their talent and passion will take them next!
